I am confident that everyone reading this believes their group is above average. But you also recognize that for yours to be above average, there must be groups below average. How can you be sure you and your group members are truly above – and more importantly, how can you prove it to your hospital or ASC partner?
I’ve created a robust evaluation process that will provide the assessment and feedback that you need. This is NOT a patient satisfaction survey – it is a survey of the nurses, surgeons and peers regarding the job performance of your personnel. The surveys are focused and the questions are pertinent and direct. Anonymous responses are collected electronically, allowing for candid and complete feedback.
All questions are peer approved and developed with extensive input from physicians in your specialty. They are written to focus on core expectations regarding availability, affability and ability, the Three Pillars of Excellence recognized in critiquing medical care. On each question, respondents rate the individual provider on a five-point Likert scale of ‘strongly agree’ to ‘strongly disagree.’
• Establish expectations
• Create a culture of compliance and accountability
• Provide feedback for improvement
• Identify outliers for coaching/culling
• Demonstrate efforts to self-monitor & improve service
• Provide evidence of strong service
• Provide evidence of surgeons’ satisfaction
"The surveys provided valuable feedback regarding issues with personal behavior, both for physicians themselves and for the group at large. We were also able to show our hospitals that we were taking steps to improve overall physician performance. "

In addition to customizing and circulating the surveys, Roehr Consulting compiles the results into detailed individual “report cards” and group-wide reports. Report Cards provide confidential feedback to each provider allowing them to validate their strengths and areas for improvement. Blinded group-wide reports are professionally formatted and ready to hand to your facility c-suite; non-blinded reports are ready for your peer-review chair.

The core Anesthesia Personnel surveys are circulated to pre-op, intra-op and post-op nurses, along with citizenship questions circulated to their anesthesia colleagues. With a library of over 75 questions, customization is available. Additional optional surveys regarding OB, NORA (non-OR areas), acute pain and chronic pain care, along with questions for charge nurses and surgeons may be easily added to the core product. And there are specific questions for CRNA job performance, along with supervising physician performance.
After seeing the impact and value of the anesthesia product I’d created, an emergency medicine provider encouraged me to create a similar product for them. With the input from multiple emergency medicine physicians and providers, I created a set of surveys specific to your needs.
The core Emergency Medicine evaluations consists of three surveys. The primary survey is circulated to the ED nursing staff; a second, short survey is for the consulting surgeons/physicians. The final set of questions centers on citizenship and is completed by the ED provider's peers.
